COACHING UPDATE - 18 April 2012

I am delighted to be be able to announce that we have now appointed a new club coach Adrian Nicklin. I am sure Adrian will be a wonderful coach for the club and is a great addition to the club. Adrian has over 20 years experience coaching adults and children, ranging from mini 5 red year old old through to 16 year olds in high performance development squads. Adult beginners through to team players .  Adrian will be taking the club sponsored junior coaching sessions which begin this weekend (21 April). Adrian's availability to privately coach Lomond Park members will increase once the League season is over in June. Adrian is avaialble for private coaching at a rate of £25 per hour this rate is for either an individual or small group (up to a maximum of 4). HART CUP and Wimbledon Draw - Just to remind you that this will take place at the club this Sunday 22 April and the event will start promptly just after  1.30pm, so please arrive before then please. The wimbledon draw will be held in the clubhouse at around 4pm. Look forward to seeing you all there!!

A very warm welcome to you all, as we are about to embark on what I hope and am sure will be another thoroughly enjoyable and exciting season for 2012.

We have another full programme of Men’s, Ladies and Junior league tennis matches this season with 8 senior teams and 7 junior teams. The senior matches start on Monday 16th April and run for 10 weeks, whilst the Junior programme starts on Saturday 21st April. We are always looking for new and fresh talent to add to our existing “high” quality performance squads so if you are not currently involved with team tennis and wish to do so then please come along to Ladies Tuesday nights or Men’s Wednesday nights and/or introduce yourself to our team captains, Gail Kinmond and Richard Arnott or Pippa Johnston, our Junior Convener. The Adults and Junior sections of the website also provide more information. The very best of luck to all our teams for the forthcoming season.. and remember it is only a game and have fun !!

There are also a wide and varied selection of social tennis events on throughout the year kicking off with some relaxed social tennis at the Brass Monkeys American Tournament on Sunday 18th March, both seniors and juniors very welcome. Fingers crossed that the weather will be fine and I look forward to seeing many of you there. I would strongly encourage you all to take a good look at the Calendar Section (Events) of the website, both now and periodically throughout the season, as this gives further details and timings of our planned events programme for this year. However, the events calendar and website will be updated periodically for changes throughout the year so please keep having an occasional browse. Unfortunately the weather does sometimes cause events to be postponed although, unless it is actually raining or the courts are unplayable, we will endeavour to run events as scheduled. If possible we will post a red notice at the top of this page to advise you of any changes, so if things seem doubtful, please check this website just before you set off for the courts. If anyone is able to offer any help at an event, this would be greatly appreciated - please contact Kathryn Hardie, our Secretary.

We have decided not to renew our coaching arrangements with Deuce Academy with effect from 27th February 2012. Consequently we are now in the process of recruiting a new coach. We will update you on the appointment of a new coach once this has been determined via both the Club Notice Board and our web site. We still intend to provide some free junior coaching but the exact timing of this is obviously impacted and dependent on the timing of the Coaching appointment. Again please check the web site for details of any changes in this programme. I would ask that you remain patient whilst we go through the coach recruitment process.

We expect to be notified soon of our club's allocation of Wimbledon tickets. This year the Wimbledon fortnight runs from Monday 25th June to Sunday 8th July and all members who are also members of British Tennis are eligible to enter the ballot. (You can join at http://www.lta.org.uk/Members/Join/ or pick up a form from the clubhouse if you are not a member.) You will then receive further details about our allocation in due course and an opportunity to express your ticket/ date preferences. The draw for tickets will be made at the Hart Cup on Sunday 22nd April.

You should by now all have received your 2012 subscription e-mails and I would encourage you all to make sure you submit your application and payments before the 31st March so that you join at the most advantageous rates. Any new members who join during March also avoid paying the entry/late fee so please refer them to the membership application on this website.
